What does “Water Baptism” Teach?
This book aims to provide a clear understanding of what the Scriptures say about water baptism, ensuring that this sacred moment is approached with knowledge and confidence.
Full Immersion
The book teaches the practice of full immersion in water during baptism, following the example set by Jesus when He was baptized by John the Baptist. This act symbolizes Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Immersion represents the burial of the old self, while rising from the water signifies a rebirth into a new life in Christ.
Act of Obedience
Before Jesus goes back to heaven after the resurrection, he gives a final command to teach all nations, and to baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This must have been important being that it was in the final pep talk!
Symbol of the Cross
Being baptized into Jesus means that you are also baptized into His death with Him. Beyond that, as He was resurrected to life, you are also raised to a new life in Christ. You are now dead to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ.
Symbol of Your Confession
Water baptism is a confession of your faith in Jesus Christ and repentance of sins. It’s not as if to clean dirt from your body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God by the works of Jesus.
Baptism of Repentance
Water baptism is a physical experience representing a spiritual occurrence of your admitting to your sin and being renewed and cleansed from all unrighteousness. It is by the mercy of God that we are led to repentance in water baptism.
Baptism is Not Salvation
Salvation is by faith in the works of Jesus Christ, and practicing water baptism does not save you from eternal hell. It is only by placing your faith and hope in the works of Jesus Christ that saves you. It is by His works, so that no human can boast.
The Gospel of Jesus
Jesus’ blood was better than animal sacrifice, because it would take away the sins of mankind (not simply cover their sins.) Jesus became the final permanent sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. This is the gospel, the new covenant between God and mankind, that if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus died for your sins, you will be saved.
After Water Baptism
Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit, immediately following His baptism by John. You may come across temptations after your baptism. Follow Jesus’ example by learning the Scriptures and being armed with truth, which is the Word.
The Narrow Gate
The narrow way that leads to life is your personal journey with the Lord and the narrow gate you will enter into eternity is through Jesus. The Holy Spirit will be your guide.
The Simple Life God Commands
The life that God asks us to live is not too far off or hard. The Lord wants us to learn His ways so we may walk in life and blessings. Let Jesus teach you His ways, as they are not burdensome and He will be your peace. The simple life is to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
